OUR STORY
We met during the fall semester of 2006 at The American School Foundation in Mexico City. After running a charity race together, the romance blossomed on the practice trail. We enjoy traveling together, cooking and eating, biking around town and teaching all of our kids. Now we live in Moscow, Russia and are continuing to teach the little ones and live it up!
Michelle Nebeker
Michelle was born in Iowa and has lived in Chicago and Boulder, CO. For the last 6 years she has called Cuernavaca and Mexico City home. She studied Psychology and Communications at Iowa State University. Last year she received her Masters in Education from Buffalo State University. Michelle loves to teach and adores working with and getting to know her students. She has taught 2nd grade for the last 3 years and is now a 4th grade teacher in Moscow. She enjoys speaking Spanish, reading, hiking, and watching cop shows on TV. She is very excited to marry Mike and continue with their fairy tale lives.
Mike Scionti
Mike grew up in sunny Tucson along with seven older siblings and plenty of attention. Singing in choirs eventually led him to study music and a love for kids led him to teaching. After some time in Detroit and Brazil, Mexico City was home for a while and now Moscow. Traveling and meeting the people of the world has led Mike to be committed to social justice issues; the areas of education, peace, and equal civil rights are particularly inspiring. Mike is excited to experience Russia with Michelle and to grow together.
